Join us for breakfast, networking and a lively discussion about the new bill. Tana Thompson, VP of HR at Xenium, and Luke Reese, shareholder at Garrett Hemann Robertson, will be covering the ins and outs of the new Pay Equity Bill, including documentation requirements, some examples of how it will roll out for a typical company and what employers can do to stay on top of it.

Tana Thomson, VP of HR Services, Xenium HR

Tana Thomson, SPHR, joined the Xenium team in 2001 as a Human Resource Account Manager. She was promoted to Senior Human Resource Account Manager in January 2003, Director of HR Services in January 2009 and VP of Human Resources in 2013, where she currently leads the HR Service Team.

As an HR Account Manager, Tana has serviced a large number of clients in a variety of industries including technology, retail, manufacturing and professional services. Her passion for the technical aspects of HR as well as her focus on customer success enables her to quickly build the trust of her clients. Given the nature of servicing multiple clients, Tana has accelerated exposure in successfully managing complex HR matters. Tana regularly conducts workplace investigations, has served as an expert witness and is experienced in preparing EEOC/BOLI Complaint responses. She is adept at partnering with managers and business owners to proactively develop effective workplace policies and HR systems maximizing the employee/employer relationship.

Tana has developed training sessions for our Xenium workshops and regularly conducts training for employees and managers. In addition, she has been a guest speaker at local HR association meetings.

Tana brings 18 years of progressive HR experience to her role at Xenium. She began her career in human resources as a Staffing Manager for a local staffing service overseeing the temporary staffing division. She then transitioned to an internal role as a Human Resource Manager for a local software company where she was responsible for recruitment, training, employee relations and performance management.

Tana holds a B.S. in Business Administration from Oregon State University. She earned her Professional in Human Resources Certification (PHR) in 2000 and her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification in 2002. She earned her Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) designation in December 2014.


Luke Reese, Attorney, Garrett Hemann Robertson

Luke Reese focuses his litigation practice on defending employers in state and federal courts
throughout Oregon. He helps his clients achieve cost effective results through trial and, when
appropriate, alternative forms of dispute resolution. Mr. Reese also provides human resource
consultation to all sizes of employers to help prevent employee lawsuits.

In addition to representing private employers, Mr. Reese defends public entities from all types
of tort and constitutional claims. This includes defending school districts in suits brought under
Section 1983, Title IX, the IDEA and other claims filed by students and teachers.

Mr. Reese is a Board Member with the Boys & Girls Club of Salem, Marion and Polk Counties
and volunteers with the local YWCA. In 2009 he was recognized as an Oregon Super Lawyer
Rising Star. Mr. Reese joined the firm as an associate in 2007, and became a shareholder in
2012.
