Event description

Description

Resolved to be more active in 2019? There's no better way to make that happen than by becoming a hiker. Our introduction to hiking program meets every Sunday afternoon in January and February to hike at different locations around the Traingle. We start with a 1.5-mile hike and work up to four miles. We hike at a pace you're comfortable with: we always have a hike leader in the rear so you never worry about being left behind. We also provide support through handouts for beginner hikers and a weekly enewsletter that details each week's hike and provides hiking tips and resources. And we don't leave you when the session is over: our GetHiking! program has all kinds of options throughout the year.

Here's our schedule:

Jan. 6 Eno River State Park, Durham: 1.5 miles

Jan. 13 Little River Regional Park, Durham/Orange county line:: 2.8 miles

Jan. 20 Horton Grove Nature Preserve, northern Durham County: 1.8 miles, with a 3.4-mile option

Jan. 27 Mountains-to-Sea Trail, Raleigh: 3 miles

Feb. 3 Duke Forest, Korstian Division, Durham: 3 miles

Feb. 10 Umstead State Park, Raleigh: 4 miles

Feb. 17 Jordan Lake, Apex: 2.7 miles

Feb. 24 Mountains-to-Sea Trail, Durham: 3 miles
