Description

Join SBA’s Linda Williams at the Microsoft Store at the North Park Mall for the Business Smart Toolkit presentations, a mini-workshop series of three workshops on entrepreneurship presented April 30, May 1 and May 2 from 10:30 am - 12:00 noon each day. Each workshop can be taken individually or with the other two.

The series is an eye-opener for many entrepreneurs who think they have the ticket for success, but actually lack basic information very critical for survival and growth. Ready, Set, Go – are you ready to start and grow your small business into optimal success? Don’t miss these workshops – it is time you “know what you don’t know” about business ownership and success.

Module 1 – “Ready” – April 30

The “Ready” module provides an Entrepreneurship Readiness Assessment and instruction on Steps to Starting a Small Business, Determining Your Offering and Market Demand, Understanding Your Competition, Determining Your marketing Strategy, Determining Your Start-up Costs, Meeting Your Legal Requirements, Preparing Yourself Financially, Developing a Business Plan and Getting Help.

Module 2 – “Set” – May 1

The “Set” module covers steps getting ready to seek financing for your business (either a new business or existing business). Topics include the 5 C’s of Credit (5 Things Lenders Need to Know About You), Sources of Funding for Small Businesses, Getting Introduced to a Business Lender, What You Need to Know about Traditional Lenders, Non-Traditional Lenders, Microlenders, Preparing to Ask for a Loan, the Basics of Your Loan Request, Preparing Financial Reports, and Unfair Lending Practices to name a few.

Module 3 – “Go” – May 2

The “Go” module covers information on organizations that can assist small business owners in realizing their dream of business ownership. This module introduces common technical assistance and financing resources for small businesses. Resources include information offered through the Small Business Administration’s Website and through the SBA Resource Partners. Learn about the SCORE Mentoring Program and Educational Workshops, Small Business Development Center Programs, the Veterans Business Outreach Center at UTA and SBA’s Lending Partners such as national banks, community banks, microloan lenders, Community Advantage lenders and the SBA 7(a) Small Business Loans. Did you know that SBA has an web-based matching service for lenders and borrowers? It is called LINC and you can learn all about it in this workshop.

The Microsoft Store Location is: 8687 N Central Expy #1612, Dallas, TX 75225. Microsoft Store is located on the First Floor under the AMC Theater located in between the Macy’s and Nordstrom buildings. You may park in either of the nearby parking garages (Macy's or Nordstrom's) or in the uncovered mall parking areas that are available as well.

The workshop series is free, but registration is required. You are registering for Module 1 to be held on April 30 by clicking the registration link. Module 2 will be held Tuesday, May 1 and Module 3 will be held May 2. Each module can be taken independently of the others. They are all stand-alone modules.
