Speakers:

William Draves, Train Futurist

Draves is a noted futurist who, along with his co-author Julie Coates, predicted the rise in passenger train travel, the decline in driving among Gen Y, and the impact on how Americans live and work in this century. Their predictions were included in their book, Nine Shift: Work, life and education in the 21st century. Draves has recorded a TED/NASA talk, which is available on YouTube.

Richard Harnish, Executive Director of Midwest High Speed Rail Association (MHSRA)

Harnish is a leading creative force in the transportation policy reform movement, and his ideas are revolutionizing rail and transit advocacy. Richard will present “The Phased Network Approach in Wisconsin.” Building a stronger and more diverse coalition for passenger rail funding by advocating for an integrated network of high-speed trains, regional trains, and feeder buses.

Craig Thompson, Executive Director of Transportation Development Association of Wisconsin

Thompson is a veteran legislative and policy analyst with more than 20 years of experience working with Wisconsin businesses, communities, legislators and units of government. His expertise is valued throughout Wisconsin’s political spectrum, and he has been appointed to numerous boards and committees by Wisconsin governors Tommy Thompson, Scott McCallum, Jim Doyle and Scott Walker. Craig’s segment will include an overview of transportation funding in Wisconsin, where rail fits into that picture and what the future may hold in terms of rail and other transit options.

James Coston, Chairman of Corridor Capital LLC

Coston successfully organized Corridor Capital in respect to his focused career development that pivoted off of the three key elements of professional achievement essential to the rail business: passenger train operations and marketing; state and national transportation policy; and twenty-six years of experience in equipment lease and finance law, a fast-growing professional concentration in which he is a nationally recognized leader.
