Event description

Description

The Get a Good Night Sleep Workshop is for parents and carers of children experiencing bedtime difficulties.

One of the greatest challenges some parents face is getting their children to sleep; alone, in their own beds, and through the night. Parents battle with children who resist going to bed, cry and shout from the bedroom, leave their bed or room repeatedly, and sometimes end up sleeping with their parents. When this is the typical evening pattern, children and parents get too little sleep and fatigue affects the mood, health, and daily functioning of the entire family.

The workshop explores the current sleep difficulties and why these may occur. Attendees will learn how to create an optimum sleep environment, use pre-emptive routines to promote sleep, learn why child anxiety at bedtime increases, how to decrease bedtime anxiety, how to implement evidence based techniques to reduce bedtime difficulties. This workshop is suitable for parents of children aged 2 to 12 years.

By the end of the workshop parents/carers will have an individualised plan to support their child to sleep in their own room through the night.

This workshop is suitable for parents, foster carers, adoptive parents and guardians caring for children.

The workshop is held in central Cardiff, five minutes walk from Cardiff central train station. There are several car parks within a few minutes walk.

Information, materials and refreshments are provided.
