Description

This webinar presents the student winners of the GeoTech Center/URISA Undergraduate Geospatial Technology Competition winners as presented in October 2015 in Spokane, WA as part of the GIS-Pro & NWGIS2015 Conference. Each of the four students will present their winning project, including:

  • Molly Finch, Freshman, Community College of Baltimore County: Shading out the Gun: How Baltimore City Greenspace Relates to 2013 Homicides
  • Amy Halloran, Senior, DePaul University: “Toxic Mapping with Python and GIS: Exploring Relationships Between Carcinogen Dumping and Cancer”
  • Kevin McMahon, Freshman, Community College of Baltimore County: “The Syrian Conflict and Migration of Refugees
  • Matthew Seto, Senior, University of Washington – Tacoma: “Identifying Wildfire Risk Areas in Western Washington State”

There will be an opportunity for brief discussion following each presentation and the webinar recording and all presentation slide decks will be archived on the GeoTech Center website at: http://www.geotechcenter.org/webinar-archives.html.
