Georgia Human Trafficking Awareness Training
Provided by Georgia Department of Administrative Services (First Lady Marty Kemp)
Training was developed in response to the First Lady Marty Kemp's mission to help end human trafficking. Its purpose is to help state employees and citizens of Georgia become more aware of the illegal human trafficking industry around us. Training is vital because your awareness may rescue a person(s) from a life of modern slavery.
Target Audience:
Primary Care Providers, Nurse Practitioners, Nurses, Allied Health Professionals, Public Health Providers, Healthcare Professional Students & Community Health Related Organization Representatives
Objectives:
At the end of presentation, the participant will be able to
1. Provide an overview of what human trafficking is, including the various forms.
2. Provide examples of the groups involved in human trafficking.
3. Provide a definition of sex trafficking and key indicators.
4. Highlight various ways for reporting human trafficking.
5. Outline how you can help prevent human trafficking in Georgia.
Continuing Education:
Nurses: The Georgia Board of Nursing deems Southwest Georgia Area Health Education Center (SOWEGA-AHEC) as an approved provider for nursing continuing education (CE). This activity is approved for 1.0 contact hour towards the continuing education competency requirement for Georgia nursing licensure renewal. No partial credit offered. Activity #2020-07a.
Submission of registration information, attendance and completed evaluation/successful post-test required for Nursing and EMS continuing education certificates.
