Description

Register for Georgetown’s Second Annual DC Fintech Week: November 5-8, 2018.

Join us for the full program, or register for select days.*

During DC Fintech Week, thought leaders from fintech firms across the country—from Paypal to Amazon—describe their business, and explain how their services intersect with markets for a Washington, DC audience consisting of policymakers, academics, lawyers, and regulators.

Since its inception, Fintech Week has generated an enormous amount of interest from both market participants and top regulators. The Second Annual DC Fintech Week will span four days at three locations: Georgetown Law, the International Monetary Fund, and on Capitol Hill. IIEL and the International Monetary Fund will co-host a two-day crypto-assets workshop during the first two days of Fintech Week. 2018 Fintech Week co-sponsors include the Institute for Financial Markets, Thomson Reuters, the NEX Group, Amazon, the Digital Chamber of Commerce and leading law firms.

Each day of Fintech Week will feature off-the-record sessions focused on Crypto-assets (Days 1 & 2); Robots, Finance and the Law (Day 3); and Smart Regulation (Day 4). Where relevant, panelists will explain or demystify in broad outlines their firm’s technology and services in a manner understandable to laymen and describe how that technology is designed to operate either within or compared to other financial intermediaries. Heads of leading financial regulatory agencies will offer daily keynotes or fireside chats, which will be open to the press. Limited CLE credit will be offered for select sessions.

Fintech Week comprises the latest in a series of events Georgetown’s Institute of International Economic Law has hosted to provide a forum for educating attorneys and market participants about developments in financial technology. It was at one of IIEL’s signature 2016 events that then-Comptroller of the Currency Thomas Curry unveiled the OCC’s Fintech Chartering Program.

Mark your calendars to join us in Washington November 5-8, 2018!
