Hike within the San Andreas Fault zone and learn about this active boundary between the North American and Pacific Plates. We will view fault-related landforms, such as shutter ridges and sag ponds, and discuss plate tectonics, the 1906 San Francisco earthquake, and natural hazards in the Bay Area. Explore and take short hikes at Stinson Beach, near Five Brooks in the Olema Valley, along the Earthquake Trail near Bear Valley, and at Tomales Bay State Park - Millerton Point north of Point Reyes Station. We will hike about 4 miles on relatively flat trails.
