Description

Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Daniele McKay for a geology hike at Whychus Canyon Preserve. Marvel at the geologic history of this spectacular rimrock canyon and take in the views at scenic overlooks. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Cascade crest while learning about the forces of nature that formed Central Oregon and the cliffs surrounding Whychus Creek. Explore ancient juniper groves, native grasslands and a portion of the Santiam Wagon Road while keeping an eye out for early spring wildflowers. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

Hike Rating: This is a challenging 4-5-mile hike on Whychus Canyon Preserve hiking trails.

What to Bring: Snacks/lunch, water, closed toe shoes. Dress for the weather.
