Description

Join the Deschutes Land Trust and Derek Loeb for a geology hike at Whychus Canyon Preserve. Marvel at the geologic history of this spectacular rimrock canyon and take in the views from two scenic overlooks as you make your way into the canyon to the banks of Whychus Creek. Enjoy the panoramic view of the Cascade crest while learning about the forces of nature that formed the cliffs surrounding Whychus Creek. Along the way, explore ancient juniper groves, native grasslands and early spring wildflowers. Registration is required and opens 1 month prior to the event.

Hike Rating: This is a challenging, 5-mile hike on the Whychus Canyon Preserve hiking trails.

What to Bring: Snacks/Lunch, water, sturdy hiking shoes. Dress for the weather.
