Event description

Description

In 2019, the Geography of Hope will expand from a one-weekend event to a year-long series of gatherings, pilgrimages, and inquiries that explore the theme of “The Sacred in the Land.”

It kicks off on Saturday, March 16, with a day-long gathering on the meaning of pilgrimage within the environmental, political and cultural contexts of our times. The event includes presentations and conversations with writers, filmmakers, activists, and Native American leaders plus songs, storytelling, a history of pilgrimage traditions around the world, and illumination of the ways pilgrimage can be a form of social activism.

Presenters include: Kate Bunney, Walking Water; Gigi Coyle, Beyond Boundaries; John Francis, Planetwalker; Desirae Harp and Michael Preston, Run4Salmon; Weston Pew, Sacred Door Trail; with Steve Paulson and Anne Strainchamps, NPR's To The Best of Our Knowledge

The Saturday gathering is from 9am to 5pm. An optional community pilgrimage walk (approximately 1.5 miles) will take place on Sunday morning, March 17.

Cancellations: No refunds for cancellations made later than March 1st. Prior to March 1st, there is a $50 processing fee per ticket for cancellations.
