GeoAg 101 – Introduction to Geological Agriculture

Welcome to the fall session of Geological Agriculture (GeoAg) at the Metropolitan Library. This course will focus on the basics of geological agriculture and is designed for those new to GeoAg. You will learn the fundamentals of the science, how to assemble your own gravel grow cup to take home and get you started on the science.

Once you have taken this course, the GeoAg 102 course focusing on Winter and Recycled Gardening is available at Bowden Senior Center and Wolf Creek Library.

If you have already taken the 101 intro GeoAg course and the 102 recycled GeoAg course and you also want to learn more about geological agriculture concepts or engage in geo-agriperneur economic development activities, go to the advance GeoAg sessions at Oak Hill, Child, Family and Adolescent Center on Mondays from 12pm to 4pm.

Geological Agriculture (GeoAg) is the new science of extracting nutrient elements from sedimentary materials for the benefit of agriculture products. Basically, GeoAg is the study of growing plants in rocks without soils and fertilizers. All that is published about GeoAg can be found in the book River Stones Grow Plants by Richard Campbell with contributions by George Washington University and Tennessee State University.

Fulton County Board of Commissioners in an effort to find innovative ways to address food deserts supports the training content, gravel grow cup materials for each person to take home, GeoAg growing display and awareness to the GeoAg workshops for free, but the book River Stones Grow Plants costs $20 at the workshop or $40 at Barnes and Noble or other places books are sold. Download the PDF of book to keep in your phone and learn more at www.tosoilless.com.
