Description

Tai Chi is a moving meditation which reduces stress by relaxing the heart and mind while increasing focus and concentration. It also supports over all health for inner organs, immunity and the cardio vascular system. It’s very good at improving general fitness without impact and improves balance. You might say that tai chi is a great happiness machine! The class meets weekly for a month. The tuition is for the entire month.

You will learn:

  • Gentle Yang 24 tai chi
  • Standing meditation
  • Qigong exercises
  • Practical applications for reducing stress in every day life


Who should come to this?
You. Anyone who wants to enjoy a relaxing moving meditaion which also supports overall health of mind and body, improved immunity, and balance. Tai chi is also very good for those suffering from diabetes, depression, auto immune diseases like MS etc.

Who's teaching this?
Hillary Johnson is a fine art photographer who's been teaching tai chi, qigong, meditation, and mindfulness since 2008. She's a tai chi and meditation student of Venerable Ji Ru. She's also studied meditation with Tara Brach, Sharon Salzberg, Dani Shapiro and Stephen Cope.

She's also a creativity coach who'se been leading retreats and helping people feel better and companies work better since 2008. She's into travel and helping people feel authentic interconnection between them and all things. Also border collies, cattle dogs and bicycling.

FAQs

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The #8 bus stops at 18th and Halsted St; the #16/18 bus stops on 18th just west of Halsted and is a short walk away. Both buses are accessible via Blue line. You can also take the Red Line to Chinatown and take the Cermak bus #21 west to Halsted or take the Orange line to Archer and take the 8 bus north to us. There's plenty of free street parking in the neighborhood. You can ride your bike and lock it out front. There's a Divvy station around the corner on 18th Street just east of Halsted.

What can I bring into the event?

Comfy clothes, soft soled shoes, notebook and writing implement, refillable water bottle or thermos, snack to share. Please no perfumes, colognes.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No printed ticket needed.

Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?

You may give your ticket to a friend. That would be so nice! They just need to tell me who bought their ticket.

Is it ok if the name on my ticket or registration doesn't match the person who attends?

Yes, see above. If someone gives you a ticket (yay for you!) just tell me who bought the ticket so we can keep track. Thanks.
