Gentle Persuasive Approaches (GPA) in Dementia Care: Supporting Persons with Responsive Behaviours.
GPA Basic is a 7.5 hour evidence-based education session designed for team members who care for older adults who display responsive behaviours associated with dementia. GPA curriculum reframes challenging behaviour to be interpreted as self-protective or responsive behavior that occurs as a result of unmet needs, thus encouraging staff to assess the meaning of the behavior and work alongside the person.
GPA is taught Canada-wide to care providers across various sectors. Learners complete four modules which include interactive exercises, creative multimedia, and reflective learning. Learners gain purposeful knowledge and develop skills that can be immediately used at the point of care.
This Workshop is designed for delivery to interdisciplinary groups from all departments within various care setting Including, PSWs, nurses, social workers, case managers, drivers, and adult day program coordinators.
*Lunch is NOT provided. Participants may wish to bring their own lunch.
*Please wear comfortable clothes and shoes for this session.
