Event description
Arima Genomics and Circulomics are proud to host the inaugural Genome Generation symposium.

About this Event

Intro

This symposium will focus on providing hands-on perspective on how you can use the latest tools and technologies to generate reference quality genomes. Genomics experts will share tips on how to generate exceptional long-read sequencing data, on scaffolding and assembly, and on future developments

Keynote Speakers

Karen Miga and Winston Timp will share how they are pushing the boundaries of genomes, epigenomes, and transcriptomes.

Karen Miga, UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute - Telomere-to-Telomere Chromosome Assemblies: New Insights Into Genome Biology & Structure

Winston Timp, Johns Hopkins University - Using Nanopore Sequencing to Interrogate the Genome, Epigenome, and Transcriptome

Lightning Talks

We would like to call for scientists to submit a 250 word abstract about your work in genomics. Anything goes! 4 abstracts will be chosen to give a 5 minute lightning talk.

One lucky winner will get a long-read genome/HiC genome generated by Arima and Circulomics.

We’ll generate the data but you get to assemble it using all tips you learn here so pay attention!

Submit Abstracts by 10/22/2020

Ask An Expert – Sample Prep Panel

Ask an expert in sample prep for tips on how to sequence anything. Hosted by Circulomics and Arima scientists.

Maggie Weitzman - University of Oregon, Genomics and Cell Characterization Core Facility

Tanya Murtha - Iowa State University, DNA Facility

Jennifer Balacco – Rockefeller University, Vertebrate Genome Lab

Ask An Expert – Bioinformatics Panel

Ask an expert in bioinformatics about the latest in scaffolding and assembly. Hosted by Circulomics and Arima scientists.

Sergey Koren – NIH / NHGRI

Shilpa Garg – Harvard Medical School

Miten Jain – UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute

Hugh Olsen – UC Santa Cruz Genomics Institute

Arima Talk

Anthony Schmitt will present genome assembly using high coverage Arima Hi-C.

Anthony Schmitt, VP R&D - Genome Assembly Using High Coverage Arima Hi-C: Sample Prep and Analysis

Circulomics Talk
