About this Event

“The Generals” History Walking Tour of Old Town, Alexandria, Sunday, Sept. 29, 4 pm!

Alexandria is the hometown of two families of very famous generals. One is the Washingtons: General and Commander-in-Chief George Washington, and his brother, Alexandria’s founder, Lawrence Washington. The other is the Lees: A General from the American Revolution, Light-Horse Harry Lee, and his son, Confederate commanding General Robert E. Lee, among others.

Take a walk into the fascinating past of one of America’s most historic towns, on a tour that focuses on the American Revolution, the Civil War, and these two families’ role in those epochal events.

When: Sunday, Sept. 29, 4 pm. About 2 hours.

Where: Meet outside the mysterious Old Cotton Mill, 515 North Washington St., Alexandria, VA 22314.

Plenty of free street parking west of Washington St. Nearest Metro stop is King St.

Fee: $15. Pay in cash at the tour’s start.

The tour will end in the middle of Old Tour. Plenty of excellent restaurants in the area for afterwards.
