Event description

Description

Join the IOP as we welcome retired General Stanley McChrystal for a conversation on his new book Leaders: Myth and Reality, cowritten with Jeff Eggers and Jason Mangone. Modeled after Plutarch’s Lives, Leaders explores the stories of thirteen leaders – including Robespierre, Boss Tweed, Coco Chanel, and more – to find patterns of practical leadership in a variety of contexts.

As the former commander of U.S. and International Security Forces (ISAF) Afghanistan and the Joint Special Operations Command, Gen. McChrystal directed U.S. military operations in Afghanistan until his retirement in 2010. He is now a senior fellow at Yale University’s Jackson Institute for Global Affairs, as well as the founder of McChrystal Group.

This conversation will be moderated by Cécile Shea, nonresident senior fellow on security and diplomacy at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.

Book sales and signing to follow.
