Description

Mark Benson is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor who has been training law enforcement on mental health issues since 2002. He is currently part of a team that provides crisis intervention training to law enforcement throughout Illinois. Mark has worked in a variety of mental health settings, including in-patient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health centers, university settings and correctional facilities. Mark's main areas of interest are crisis intervention and critical incident stress management. Participants will:

  • Understand the importance of maintaining a safe environment.
  • Learn to identify safety hazards.
  • Identify ways to maintain a safe home visit.
  • Develop strategies to get out of potentially dangerous environments.
  • Create a plan to keep from experiencing worker burnout.

This is a free training and open to the first 100 registrants so be sure to register early! Registration begins at 8:30am. CEU's for social workers and counselors will be available.

Lunch will be on your own.
