This recorded event was co-convened by Leonard Cheshire, Sightsavers, Global Partnership of Education (GPE), the World Bank’s Inclusive Education Initiative, Global Campaign for Education (GCE-US) and UN Girls Education Initiative (UNGEI). The event showcases examples of education models and finance mechanisms that ensure girls with disabilities access quality inclusive education and remain in school. We discuss the barriers and opportunities to their learning and agree upon a set of recommendations for key stakeholders to take forward to the Global Education Summit to ensure their inclusion in education planning.
During this ninety minutes recording, you will hear from young persons with disabilities, NGO representatives, government ministry representatives, and leaders in the promotion of inclusivity for persons with disabilities from around the world, on the eve of the commencement of the two-day financing summit. We came together to issue a call to action for governments and the donor community to strengthen the financing and policies that promote access to education for girls with disabilities in the aftermath of the pandemic.
