Event description

Description

Early adolescence (ages 10-14) is a period of rapid change and considerable opportunity. While very young adolescents (VYA) are increasingly impacted by gender inequality, they may also be most amenable to change. This session will highlight how interventions that target VYA, their families, and communities can catalyze change in gendered attitudes, behaviors, and norms and improve health outcomes for adolescents. The session will feature three programs, led by Promundo in Malawi, Rutgers in Indonesia, and Save the Children in Democratic Republic of Congo, which are all being evaluated by the Global Early Adolescent Study, a multi-country investigation into how gender norms evolve and inform a spectrum of health-related outcomes in adolescence.
