You are invited to participate in the upcoming Community Planning Sessions to help shape, envision and inform the approach to the Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy -HL 3A: Countywide Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence and Commercial Sexual Exploitation Prevention Pilot.There will be two community planning sessions for this strategy.

This is the RSVP page for Community Planning Session 2 on Wednesday July 24th from 6-8pm at the Renton Library (100 Mill Ave S, Renton, WA 98057).

These community planning sessions are designed to hear from advocates, survivors, community members, youth workers and others working to prevent gender-based violence and to help inform the development of this strategy. Attendees are invited to attend are one or both of these sessions. Each session will have a similar format and agenda. Light food and beverages will be provided at each session.


At this community planning session we will discuss:

  • The range of gender-based prevention needs in King County
  • How to best coordinate a holistic approach across service systems
  • How can this RFP and program be structured to balance flexibility for providers to address needs, while accounting for the need to track services delivered and outcomes achieved?
  • What would the community consider success?
  • How can we ensure that we are racially, ethnically, culturally and regionally inclusive?
  • Technical assistance and capacity building needs


Background


King County's Veterans, Seniors and Human Services Levy (VSHSL) Implementation Plan for 2019-2023 is now enacted. We are pleased to share that the Implementation Plan includes a program to envision, plan and execute a countywide initiative to prevent domestic violence, sexual assault, commercial sexual exploitation and other forms of gender-based violence. Pages 113-114 of the VSHSL Implementation Plan provide guidance for implementation of this program as well as outlines the anticipated King County investments, which is a significant 5-year commitment averaging $595,000 per year.
