TITLE:

WaSH in schools in sub-Saharan Africa: Status and implications for health, educational outcomes, and gender disparities

SPEAKER:

Georgia Kayser, PhD

Georgia Kayser, PhD is a project scientist in the Division of Global Health in Family Medicine and Public Health in the School of Medicine at UCSD. Her research explores the factors that limit the delivery of safe and sustainable water, sanitation and hygiene (WaSH) services and she tests specific WaSH interventions (technologies and management strategies) for their human and environmental health outcomes and their sustainability over time. She has conducted research in over 20 countries throughout Latin America, the Caribbean, and Sub-Saharan Africa with funding from government, international organizations, and private sector sources. She recently completed postdoctoral training in Environmental Sciences and Engineering in the Gillings School of Global Public Health at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
