GBWF Lunch | Tues, March 21 | Change The Story VT: Advancing Women, Fueling...
Tue, March 21, 2017, 12:00 PM – 1:15 PM EDT
Join us! On Tuesday March 21, the Greater Burlington Women's Forum will present Change The Story VT: Advancing Women, Fueling the Economy.
The good news: Vermont ranks #1 in the country in the proportion of women serving as state legislators.
However, just ONE woman currently holds statewide elective office. Indeed, of the 294 citizens elected to hold statewide office since 1778, only 11 have been women.
And we are one of 2 states that have NEVER sent a woman to serve in the U.S. Congress.
That good news/bad news is a small sample of what you will find in Change The Story VT's status report on women and leadership in Vermont, the fourth in a series of reports on the economic status of women.
Our panelists will present the hot-off-the-press findings about Vermont women in leadership in the public, private and nonprofit sectors. The report examines women’s presence as leaders in higher education, public safety, on corporate boards and in senior management, and on state and municipal boards and commissions.
- Sue Minter, recent gubernatorial candidate, formerly Vermont’s Secretary of Transportation and State Representative
- Tiff Blumlue, Director, Change the Story VT
- Lindsey Lathrop-Ryan, Advisor of Community Engagment, Change the Story VT
- Moderated by Jessica Nordhaus
