Our Mission

The Mission of the Greater Baltimore Urban League (GBUL) movement is to enable African Americans and other minorities to secure economic self-reliance, parity, power and civil rights.

 Our Programmatic Empowerment

  • Civil Rights and Racial Justice Empowerment: Promoting and ensuring our civil rights by actively working to eradicate all barriers to equal participation in all aspects of American society, whether political, economic, social, educational or cultural.
  • Education and Youth Empowerment: Ensuring that all our children are well-educated and prepared for economic self-reliance in the 21st Century through college and career  readiness; literacy; and after school programming with an emphasis on STEAM to ensure preparation for future opportunities.
  • Economic Empowerment:  Empowering all people in attaining economic self-sufficiency through job training; providing access to quality jobs; homeownership; entrepreneurship; and wealth accumulation.
  • Health and Quality of Life Empowerment: Working to build healthy and safe communities; to eliminate health disparities through prevention; healthy eating, and fitness; and to ensure complete access to affordable healthcare for all people.
  • Civic Engagement and Leadership Empowerment: Empowering all people to take an active role in determining the direction, quality of life, public policy and leadership in their communities by full participation as citizens and voters, as well as through active community service and leadership development.

  • Raymond V. Haysbert Sr. Center for Entrepreneurship.  To provide a holistic educational and technical assistance program for micro and small entrepreneurs that includes case management and wrap-around services.
  • Saturday Leadership Program.  Deliver a college and career readiness program to develop community leaders in the Greater Baltimore Region through a four pillar program:  positive self-development, service to others, success through college and career readiness, and scholar-led activities.
  • STEAM Team. Offer a competition-based STEM afterschool program to foster college and career aspirations specifically in STEM.
  • Auxiliaries.  Build a seamless bridge between the Young Professionals and the Guild.

GBUL works to not only provide services to the individual, but to economically empower the family in an effort to create sustainability, while minimizing the potential of them having to come back through the door.  These services are free of charge to participants.  Your support continue these services to the community.

No donation is too large or too small.
