Event description

Description

Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) and Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy (CIDP) are rare, paralyzing, and potentially catastrophic disorders of the peripheral nerves. The cause is unknown, the length of the illness is unpredictable, and recovery can be a long process. Some patients may end up with long-term disabilities. The patient and family face the trauma of an uncertain future.

October 14, 2017 is the GBS|CIDP Walk and Roll at the National Monument. Tonya Oglesby-Charleston heads the MD/VA/DC support group chapter, part of a world-wide network established by the GBS|CIDP Foundation International to reach out to patients and families and provide educational materials and a helping hand. For information, call (301) 237-2188. Or contact the foundation toll free at 1-866-224-3301. The website is at: www.gbs-cidp.org.
