Details

  • We believe in fostering cross-generational community, therefore places are intended for children age 6-10 accompanied by a parent/guardian (when you book tickets you need to book one for each child and one for each parent/guardian attending - there will be engaging content for everyone!).
  • Our ethos promotes immersive, hands-on outdoor experiences, and as such we welcome everyone's engagement and contributions.
  • 2-hour outdoor sessions for 6 consecutive Sundays between late January-end of February.
  • All sessions will be facilitated by Eliya Lavine and Susan McCarthy - qualified Forest School Leaders and Primary School Teachers.
  • Some activities include and are not limited to shelter building, fire-making and tending, learning knots/rope work, using tools to make wood crafts, foraging, flora and fauna identification, forest art and games.
  • Please come prepared with clothing for all-weather possibilities (long sleeves and long trousers, waterproofs and wellies recommended) as sessions will be held 100% outdoors.
  • Please bring your own water/water bottle and a small snack -- all rubbish to be kept and taken off-site by participants in accordance with Leave No Trace policy.
  • While it is possible to purchase and attend individual sessions, it is recommended that participants attend all 6 sessions as a package to maximize the development of skills and build community.
  • These sessions will follow the ethos and principles of Forest School learning as is outlined by the Irish Forest School Association: www.irishforestschoolassociation.ie.
  • We aim to deliver all sessions in the medium in which they were booked. At the same time, due to the fluid nature of Covid-19 restrictions, some changes in delivery method could be necessary (i.e. moving to an online course or smaller groups etc.). We will keep in touch with you in the event that changes are necessary in accordance with HSE guidelines.
  • Weather policy: these sessions will go forward rain or shine. Only in the event of lightening or a yellow weather warning forecast 15 hours in advance of the session will the sessions be postponed or transferred online. Please check if there has been any relevant communication through eventbrite regarding possible changes due to weather at 8:30pm the evening before a scheduled session.
