Event description

Description

Join researchers from the life of breath project (www.life of breath.org) for a panel discussion alongside an installation artist, puppeteer, musician and writer exploring breath and breathlessness in their work. The panel will include talks as well as some performative elements.

Dr Alice Malpass from the Life of Breath project and Elspeth Penny, an arts and health specialist, will share themes arising in creative writing workshops in which participants are invited to write a letter to their breath. Chris Pirie, Green Ginger's Artistic Director, will talk about the role of breath in puppetry and then show some work in progress with collaborator and writer Elspeth Penny and musician Paul Bradley. Experience the art installation 'Suspended Breath' and hear Louise Jenkins, its creator, talk about how the piece was developed from letters respiratory patients have written to their breath. You can even add your own 'breath signature'.

This event is part of the Being Human Festival 2017, a programme of activities responding to the theme 'Lost and Found' https://beinghumanfestival.org
