About this Event

Growing your own plants, vegetables, and flowers can beautify your home, provide tasty produce, and even reduce stress and improve health.

Alegre Farm and Natural Resources Conservation Service want to empower you to become an exceptional gardener by teaching you sound gardening techniques.

Our workshops will include topics on composting, creative methods of conserving resources. horticulture therapy, and care of vegetable, flower, or herb gardens. The program entails hands-on experience by working in the Alegre Farm garden.

This workshop consists of 4 classes on the following dates: 2/27, 3/5, 3/12, 3/19

Workshop 1:

  • Garden Location: Many times gardeners fail because they have not chosen a location that plants need to grow properly.
  • Efficient use of your garden to maximize vegetable production.
  • Advantages and disadvantages of raised beds and rows.
  • Develop ideas on sketching your proposed garden.
  • Steps you need to take now to be ready to plant for the spring season.

This is the first workshop of our five series workshop, all consisting of 4 classes each. Take all or join a workshop of your choosing. These workshops are great for beginners, but still develop better skills and methods even for the experienced gardener or farmer.
