Garden of Hope Orientation: May 20, 2017
Sat, May 20, 2017, 10:00 AM – 11:30 AM EDT
The Garden of Hope is a two-acre vegetable garden on Ohio State’s Waterman Farm. The mission of the garden is to introduce cancer survivors, including caregivers, to evidence-based nutritional information and education on the benefits of a plant-based diet. All harvesters are required to complete a classroom orientation and complete the necessary paperwork prior to harvesting.
Participation is limited to cancer survivors or caregivers who are new to the program in 2017, or who participated in 2016 for the first time.
In this orientation you will learn about the mission of the garden, hear from a clinical dietitian about the benefits of a plant-based diet, receive information about the harvest schedule and preview of the produce that will be available to pick. You will receive your harvest bag and be ready to harvest from the Garden of Hope for the first harvest of the season, June 3rd from 10 am - Noon. The season continues through September and harvesters will have the opportunity to harvest up to three times per week.
Parking: Free visitor parking is available in the patient parking lot at the Martha Morehouse Pavilion. Directions to the Garden of Hope will be covered during orientation.
