Sun July 24 @ 3pm (post performance talkback)

Join us as a special guest of Alla Nazimova in her GARDEN OF ALLA when it arrives at Firehouse after many Off Bway NYC theatres, the Kennedy Center, and internationally at Edinburgh Fringe -- hailed as "an important piece of theatre that will touch...minds and hearts" (Broadway World) and "a fascinating account not only of Nazimova, but also of Hollywood prejudice" (The Reviews Hub).

Alla Nazimova was a Jewish Crimean immigrant who escaped pogroms, persecution, and censorship in Tsarist Russia to become a Broadway mega star, silent film legend, and one of the first female directors and producers in Hollywood. Defying the moral and artistic codes of the time, her trailblazing legacy was eventually forced into obscurity. Her infamous Garden of Allah on Sunset Boulevard was a veritable who’s who of Hollywood’s literati and glitterati, where the stars 'came out.'

A short list of some of Nazimova's guests at her Garden of Alla include F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway, Greta Garbo, Rudolph Valentino, Dorothy Parker, Marlene Dietrich, Sergei Rachmaninov, Charlie Chaplin, Clara Bow, Tennessee Williams, Orson Welles, Fanny Brice, Tallulah Bankhead, Ginger Rogers, and Errol Flynn.
