Description
The Garden Gather Dinner will be held on Friday, May 4th and will celebrate the centennial of John Cage, co-founder of The New York Mycological Society held in a private, subterranean space in the soon-to-open Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn.
The intimate dinner will highlight local gardened and gathered ingredients from the likes of Brooklyn Grange, forager Evan Strusinski and more prepared by San Francisco based Chef-Artist Leif Hedendal and Mark Andrew Gravel, cook, designer and author of the forthcoming book, Kill the Recipe. The six-course tasting menu will feature dishes such as Braised Heirloom Red Cowpeas from South Carolina with Roasted Pheasant's Back Mushrooms and Ramps accompanied by beers from Brooklyn Brewery.
Also in attendance will be special guests Eugenia Bone co-president of the New York Mycological Society and author of Mycophilia: Revelations from the Weird World of Mushrooms and Gary Lincoff, author of The Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms and the forthcoming Joy of Foraging.
Tickets are $150 per person and support GrowNYC's New Farmer Development Project.
