Live online workshops for students ages 8 to 12 to create games from Scratch, with Scratch!
About this Event
In these series of workshops, students will be taught the basics of Scratch block programming software and Game Development Theory. Students will explore different games genres from history and re-create some of these in their own ways.
Workshops in May and the Game of the Day:
- Food Hunter (7 May): A game where the main character is on the hunt for food while it still has energy remaining.
- Maze Runner (14 May): A game where the main character is finding the exit before time runs out.
- Master Collector (21 May): A game where the main character is collecting the correct items while avoiding hazards.
- Lucky Drop (28 May): A game where player drops a coin and earns points according to the final hole that the coin lands into.

In each workshop, whichever you sign up for, students will learn the following:
- Basics of Scratch block-programming (in relation to the games)
- Fundamentals of game development
- Re-creating retro-styled games with own customization
- Game ideas: Food Hunter, Maze Fun Run, Master Collector, Lucky Drop
Details:
- Live online (synchronous learning) - it's a fixed time and day
- Each workshop runs for 90 minutes
- Maximum 15 students per class
- Lesson slides will be provided in soft copy (PDF)
- We will be using Zoom for the workshops
- We reserve the right to cancel and provide a full refund to you if the minimum number of students for the workshop is not met
