Game Development Gala
Wednesday, February 20, 2013 from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM (EST)
WB/Turbine's “Game Development Gala” was created for members of a vibrant and rapidly expanding community to interact with Turbine developers and Microsoft Technical Evangelists regarding all facets of game production and support, especially subjects that are often not a part of a traditional game dev curriculum.
Students, professionals, and industry-hopefuls will gain greater insight into AAA game design, production, development, and support, with a focus on lesser-known roles in the interactive entertainment industry. Turbine's current open positions will be showcased as well.
In addition, Microsoft Technical Evangelist Michael Cummings will be presenting a workshop covering several ways to build and publish games into the Windows Store. Attendees will explore different toolsets to easily build games with little to no programming necessary, and also learn how to quickly build a game with Visual Studio 2012 and MonoGame. Participants will also get closer to the hardware as they take a deep look into using C++ and DirectX in their Windows Store games. The session will wrap up with a discussion on enhancements to games that leverages new Windows 8 features, and a look at the certification process for submitting a completed game to the Windows Store.
Attendees are encouraged to move freely between the three floors reserved for this event, and to participate in informal group discussions lead by Turbine staff regarding working in the interactive entertainment industry, with topics including:
Online support of games
Digital Platform Development and Services
Community development, Community Support, In-game support
