So there is a whole thread on Quora called "Who is the best expert on social gaming, gaming mechanics or gaming dynamics?”. Two of those in Silicon Valley constantly being mentioned are Nicole Lazzaro, founder/CEO of XEO Design, and Dave Maestri, founder/CPO of Metamoki. Rarely do they speak about their best techniques and practices in the same room!
Our May 23 event will be like a workshop to get deeper into the game design mechanics, psychology, etc. from Nicole and Dave.
About our speakers:
:: Nicole Lazzaro is a world-renowned game researcher, designer, and speaker who makes games more fun. She discovered the Four Keys to Fun in 2004, a model used by hundreds of thousands of game developers worldwide. She used this model to design the iPhone's first accelerometer game in 2007, now called Tilt World which aims to plant 1 million trees in Madagascar. Nicole has been named one of the most influential women in the gaming industry by Fast Company, Forbes, and Gamesutra.

Her “4 Keys to Fun” whitepaper is widely cited by many game designers.
Nicole's work on user experience and emotion spans over two decades and has worked with some big names such as EA, Ubisoft, D.I.C.E., and The White House. Not only she is making games more fun, she is driving the cause to unlock human potential to improve our world.
:: Dave Maestri is the co-founder and Chief Product Officer of Metamoki. He oversees the game production and specializes in making great, free-to-play games on Facebook, iOS, Android, and other destination platforms, distributed worldwide.
In 2008 Maestri created "Mob Wars," the first text based crime RPG on what was then a new, untested platform for games: Facebook. The game was a phenomenon and within months started drawing millions of players from all over the world. Three years after its launch, Mob Wars continues to have a strong community.
