Do you love games? Do you want to make a game? Don't know where to start? Come to LAB Miami on Saturday April 6th for an introductory workshop on game design led by University of Miami professors Clay Ewing and Lien Tran. You will learn basic principles and best practices for creating fun and engaging systems, including games and other interactive experiences. After participating in this half-day workshop, you will leave with a prototype for a game, as well as a basic understanding of systems thinking. We will focus on non-digital game creation in our limited time, but these prototypes could also be the starting point for a digital game.
Lunch will be served.
Clay Ewing and Lien Tran have created both casual mobile games and non-digital humanitarian games, including partnerships with the World Bank, Open Society Foundations, Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre, and U.N. ISDR. Ewing and Tran both received their MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons The New School of Design in New York City before recently joining the faculty at the University of Miami's School of Communication. They are core faculty members for UM's new MFA in Interactive Media program, which launches this Fall 2013.
