Description

Join women who work in animation and gaming for a conversation about the industry, hosted by Moore College of Art & Design. Panelists include Rachel Sima of PHL Collective, Shayla Hall of Floyd County Productions, and Zoe Smith of QC Games. Along with moderator Lauren Brown of EA Mobile, they will discuss their creative process, careers, and how they are changing the gaming industry. The panel will be followed by Q&A with the audience and a reception with the panelists.

Participant Bios:

Lauren Brown is a professional illustrator and graphic designer, and currently the Lead Environmental Artist for EA Mobile.

Born in Okinawa, Japan and raised in Georgia, Shayla Hall is a graduate of the Art Institute of Atlanta and is currently one of the background artist for the tv series Archer on FX. She was also the Background Art Director for the animated episode "BuzzKill" in Misfits and Monsters on TruTV. Outside of work, she has been developing and working on her own webcomic series, titled "RotAngel." She loves horror and comedy genres, as well as learning the psychology of people and animals.

Rachel Sima has been working in the game industry for five years as a writer, designer, and producer, working with clients such as the Tourette Association of America and Cartoon Network. She currently works as a producer at PHL Collective, a Philadelphia-based game development studio. She is active in the Philly game development community, organizing events and spearheading educational initiatives with local non-profit, Philly Game Mechanics. She serves as a board member and was formerly the Chair of the Philadelphia chapter of the International Game Developers Association.

Zoe Smith is a 3D character artist, currently working at QC Games in Austin, Texas on the company's recently announced game, Breach. She has been working in the industry for a little over a year, and she enjoys creating 3D models in her spare time.
