Event description
At the Girls Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS) Graduation Summit, teenage girls will present advocacy campaigns to address local issues.

About this Event

The GALS program equips teenage girls in WCI’s home community of Philadelphia with the leadership skills, confidence, and connections necessary to create true social change. Through GALS, participants from the Bodine High School for International Affairs and the First Philadelphia Preparatory Charter School have a unique opportunity to develop skills and create their own advocacy campaigns to have a positive impact on their communities. This year, the girls will present their campaigns to family and friends at our culminating Graduation Summit, hosted by the City of Philadelphia's Commission for Women. Topics that participants have chosen to focus on this year include: Educational Justice, Homelessness, Sexism, Women's Rights, and Mental Health.

5:30-6:00pm Refreshments in Conversation Hall.

6:00-8:00pm Graduation Summit in the Mayor's Reception Room, including participant presentations opening remarks by Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney.
