Edmund Burke School is a small, independent college-prep school in Northwest Washington, DC. With a love for diversity, Burke seeks out students with a wide range of talents, backgrounds, perspectives and interests. They actively engage students in their own education, give them power and responsibility, and support their growth as independent thinkers who step forward to make positive contributions to local and global communities.
The work exhibited has been carefully curated by the Visual Arts faculty at the School, including Eileen Lyons, Lucinda Leach and Allen Jackson. The theme of the body of work is “Light and Life.” Via Umbria has generously donated their space to promote the chain of giving that will result in 100% of all proceeds going to the Art Therapy Programat the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Health System. An integral element of the oncology and hematology care delivered at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the Art Therapy Program allows children to speak a universal, healing language that they, their families and their care providers can understand.
