Event description

Description

Edmund Burke School is a small, independent, college prep school in Northwest Washington DC. Burke’s mission is to bring together students who are different from one another and to teach them to think critically, speak clearly, and act with compassion. The academics are challenging, the community is inclusive, and social justice is woven into the curriculum.

The work you see here represents the theme of “Catharsis,” and was selected by the Burke isual Arts faculty: Eileen Lyons, Lucinda Leach, and Allen Jackson.

Through the generosity of Via Umbria Gallery and Burke's artists, 100 percent of the show’s proceeds will benefit the Art Therapy Program at at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s National Medical Center in DC. An integral element of the oncology and hematology care delivered at the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, the Art Therapy Program allows children to speak a universal, healing language that they, their families and their care providers can understand.
