Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art

Art viewing & looking activities: 1:00 PM - 2.00 PM

Host: Harn Museum of Art MUSEs (Museum University Student Educators).  Contact:  Eric Segal -

The Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art will be having its very own Slow Art Day this year (twice)! On April 15, we will ask the visiters to the museum to take an extra few minutes to really look at the art in front of them. The Harn's MUSEs (Museum University Student Educators) will be running different activities in each gallery to inspire you to think and reflect on the art. Then, following the gallery activities, museum goers will conclude their Slow Art Day experience by using an art activity as a form of discussion to express how you felt after slowing down and looking at the art.

It's free and open to the public! So get your friends together and head on down to the museum for an entirely new experience with art!

Slow Art Day is the "annual event celebrating art." The official date is April 28th and it encourages everyone to take a few extra minutes to really LOOK at art SLOWLY and to reflect on what they experienced afterwards.

Here is more information on the official Slow Art Day:

Fresno Art Museum

The Fresno Art Museum is located in the heart of Fresno, near the intersection of Clinton and First Streets, next to Radio Park.
Exhibitions include contemporary and modern art and photography and ethnographic and cultural exhibitions which reflect and celebrate the diverse population of the San Joaquin Valley. The Museum is also home to very large and impressive collection of Pre-Columbian artworks from Mexico and what is now modern-day Peru. It is the only museum in Fresno accredited by the Americian Alliance of Museums.
In addition to thought-provoking and exciting exhibitions, the Fresno Art Museum provides the region's 1.6 million residents with a forum for contemporary and modern issues as they relate to art and culture, films, concerts, lectures, docent tours, and symposia to enlighten, educate, and entertain its visitors.
Over 14,000 people from across the Valley and around the world visit the Museum each year.
