Description

This course is brought to you by the City of Los Angeles, Emergency Management Department. Priority registration is given to Los Angeles City and region government partners. However, space may be available for additional registrants. You may apply on-line but registration will not be confirmed until two weeks prior to the course if you are not a City of LA employee or regional government partner.

This course will qualify for the CSTI Type III Credential as an EOC Advanced Planning Unit Leader or Construction and Engineering Branch Director. It is also a requirement fo the CSTI Emergency Management Specialist Certificate.

Disaster Mitigation (G393): This course provides resources for mitigation activities fundamental to reduce and eliminate long-term hazard risks. Participants will understand their roles and responsibilities to develop and implement a mitigation strategy to reduce the impact of disasters. In this course, participants will learn the tools and techniques for developing or enhancing an all-hazard emergency operations plan.

The core curriculum includes the following subjects:
• Mitigation Plan issues in natural and human-caused disasters
• The development of the Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP)
•The Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP)
• The Hazard Analysis Process
• The State of California Hazard Mitigation Plan
• The Role of FEMA in Mitigation
• The Role of the State of California in Mitigation

Course Length: 20 hours
