Join us for the graduation of the second cohort of Filipino Youth Fellows and Kapwa Fest!

About this event

Before Kapwa Fest, we are celebrating the graduation of our second cohort of Filipino Youth Fellows. We hope you can join us to celebrate the narratives, struggles, and successes of the Filipino community. Enjoy local talent in the GTA and learn from other youth leaders and organizations in the Filipino community at Kapwa Fest.

This community benefit concert will raise funds to support the FYF program hosted by the Urban Alliance on Race Relations that offers internship and leadership opportunities for Filipina/x/o youth at the City of Toronto.

Early bird pricing ($15) will be available until August 10, after which general pricing will be available ($20). We encourage those who have the means to donate $20 or more through the "Pay What You Can" option to support the sustainability of our program. For low-income Black, Indigenous, and youth of colour, we invite you to register for our event for free.

The event will be streamed on Youtube and Facebook via Restream, and participants will receive details via email. Please message the organizers at filyouthfellowshipto@gmail.com if you would like to attend and will require closed captions, ESL interpretation, or other access needs.

Land relations and responsibilities

We are indebted to original stewards and Indigenous nations of unceded lands across Turtle Island. We are privileged to exist, organize, and thrive together in community on the Sacred Territorial Land of the Anishnabeg and Haudenosaunee people, the Huron-Wendat and Petun First Nations, the Seneca, and most recently, the Mississaugas of the Credit River.

As settlers on Turtle Island, we aim to honour the Dish with One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant and work to peaceably share and care for the resources around the Great Lakes, including the privileges of offering this program to our fellow Filipina/x/o youth.

We are all treaty people, thus we all have the honour and responsibility to the just sharing and caring of all the resources we have access to. It is necessary to bring this responsibility into our politics and practice, as we work to dream and realize more Filipina/x/os in leadership roles through the Filipino Youth Fellowship program.
