FutureLeague's mission is to inspire kids to build and innovate their own future through technology. We do this through a series of LEGO Mindstorm Robotics competitions and challenges in person and online. In this first event of a series of Spring 2017 events, we kick off two parts.
Register for just the design challenge (no FLL experience required) or the entire competition
1. FIRST LEGO LEAGUE (FLL) OffSeason Tournament - suggested for 2016 experienced FLL teams
FIRST LEGO League (FLL) introduces kids, ages 9 to 14 (grades 4–8), to the fun and excitement of science and technology. While FLL only takes place only in the Fall, FutureLeague is hosting a January event to give kids more opportunities to continue developing their skills. FutureLeague is a San Francisco-based startup that teaches kids about coding and engineering through progressive, project-based courses.
During this off-season competition, children will engage in activities along the lines of those found in the regular FLL competition, but the format will be a little different.
There will be three parts to the Competition:
Robot Missions - based on FLL Fall 2016 challenge field kit
Project Expo - projects based on FLL Fall 2016 challenge
On-Site Robot Design + Coding Challenge (FutureLeague Robotics Challenge #1)
2. FutureLeague Robotics Challenge #1 - Suggested for EVERYONE
Teams of 1-5 kids, Divisions Grades 1-3, 4-5 and 6-8
Bring a LEGO Mindstorms robot, your own parts, a laptop with EV3 software along with a mobile device capable of taking videos. Each team will be provided 1 hour, to program and build parts to achieve the most points possible. Then, teams will pair up with a randomly assigned 'partner team' and they will video, and 'score' the other team according to a rubric. All team scores will be calculated at the end and winners will be ranked on a series of different rubrics released on the day of!
All kids who participate in Challenge #1, will receive 50% off home-access or in-person access to Challenge #2, available for release in late-February ($39 retail, now $19) per individual or $59/team (more than 1 child, $29).
