Description

About the workshop:

Wearable Media cordially invites you to our exhibition, Future Textile Library. Come join us in re-imagining our relationship to fashion, textile design, and computational technology as an interactive media. Along with the exhibition, we developed a series of workshops to help the audience to get hands-on experience of creating future textiles.

Connecting Data to Wearables will teach the basics of creating wearable design with data. Students will learn how to collect data and integrate and transmit this information to create smart apparel via sensory technology, Arduino programming, and web development. By the end of the workshop, students will have developed a wearable e-textile swatch that collects data from the wearer’s body movements and then visualizes the data on a web app.

About the instructor:

Jingwen Zhu is a multidisciplinary designer, creative technologist, and maker based in Brooklyn. Her recent work involves connected devices and interactive textiles that integrate physical interactions. She received her master's degree from ITP, Tisch School of the Arts, NYU. She is the co-founder and Technology Lead of Wearable Media.
