Description

About the workshop:

Wearable Media cordially invites you to our exhibition, Future Textile Library. Come join us in re-imagining our relationship to fashion, textile design, and computational technology as an interactive media. Along with the exhibition, we developed a series of workshops to help the audience to get hands-on experience of creating future textiles.

Intro to Wearables is an introductory course in which students will gain an understanding of the circuit technology used in clothing design to create e-textiles. Students can expect to come away with a basic knowledge of completing circuits, conductivity, and resistance. During the workshop, students will learn how to integrate these technologies and materials to design an interactive t-shirt.

About the instructor:

Yuchen Zhang is a fashion tech designer, entrepreneur, and educator. She received her master’s degree from Parsons School of Art and Design and has shown her technologically-enhanced fashion design at events around the world. She is currently a part-time lecturer at Parsons School of Art and Design and the co-founder and CEO of Wearable Media.

To attend the workshop, you should bring:

Your own sketching supplies Your own sewing equipment if needed. Such as needles, threads, zippers, scissors. An existing T-shirt to sew. The instructor will supply one sewing machine.
