Today real space hotels and orbital super yachts are being designed. Space Adventures is planning a tourist lunar fly-by. Virgin Galactic and XCOR Aerospace are planning sub-orbital passenger flights; and SpaceX is now providing private space enterprise cargo missions to the International Space Station (ISS) with over $5 billion in contracts. In 2012 NASA/JPL succeeded in landing the most advanced science rover (Curiosity) in history on Mars, capturing worldwide attention and admiration. Several new spaceports are in development. Earth-based space themed resorts and attractions are being financed. The next decade will see an amazing renaissance for the growing space experience industry. Much of it based here in the Los Angeles area
||Expert Speaker: John Spencer, M. Arch. Since 1982 he has been pioneering the field of space tourism. Over $310 million has been invested into building his original space/future themed concepts to date. He received two design awards from NASA for pioneering interior design work for the International Space Station (ISS) now in Earth orbit. In 1995 he founded the nonprofit Space Tourism Society (STS) of which he is president. He is also the author, with Karen L. Rugg, of the book Space Tourism - Do You Want to Go? Published by Apogee books in 2004. This is the first book on the subject published in the Unites States. He has been quoted in more than 150 TV shows, documentaries, radio shows, and articles in magazines and newspapers on Space Tourism.
He is currently designing the $1.6 billion "Mars World" immersive attraction and resort/spa for a Las Vegas site (not yet funded) and a terminal building for the Mojave Air and Space Port. In 2012 he designed the “Space World” space pavilion interiors for the National Science Museum in Korea, opening in 2014. http://spacetourismsociety.org/

When & Where
Future Salons are produced by Sealight Enterprises (http://www.sealightent.com). They are monthly educational and networking events, focused on existing, emerging and futuristic scientific, technological, entrepreneurial, or social topics and projects worthy of your attention and support. We also cover critical-thinking, management, and personal change topics, and occasionally longer-term scientific and philosophical topics.
We bring expert speakers from around the world and open discussion around their topic. Our goal is to make our rapidly changing world more fascinating, manageable, profitable, understandalbe, and positive-sum for all of us. We strive to be both doing-action-project oriented, and thinking-idea-prioritizing oriented. About the Future Salon Network initiated by John Smart: http://www.accelerating.org/futuresalon.html
