Mushroom enthusiast Debbie Klein will help us identify the many species of fungi we encounter along the trail (we'll just be looking, no collecting allowed in the park). We'll also visit a couple of lagoons (aka "newtist colonies") to view the amorous activities of the park's amphibians and learn their fascinating natural history!

About the Leader
Since 2010, on breaks from her architectural career, Debbie Klein has spent a lot of time in the woods. She has been getting familiar with the many species of mushrooms, and also, more recently, slime molds. She volunteers at local mushroom events photographing and documenting species collected. At local labs she works with microscopy and getting PCR and sequencing for more specific information on unusual mushrooms she finds, helping to expand the knowledge of local species.
