BOARDS WITH BRAINS is SVP’s board governance education series (learn more, below). Join us for our 2015 trainings, like this one: Every board member can play a unique and important role in the bringing donors and friends to their nonprofit. At this session, staff and board will learn how to mobilize board members to their fullest potential, and ensure they have fun doing it!

About this Session:

This practical and interactive workshop will help you learn the basics about what it really takes for board members to become great fundraisers. Using practical tools and interactive exercises, we'll help you develop a fundraising plan that enables your board to overcome fears about fundraising and develop new skills they can apply immediately. You will learn how board members can:

• Find their own role within the organization's fundraising strategy.

• Learn how to talk about their organization and develop their own "pitch".

• Establish a personal fundraising plan that they'll feel excited about!

About our Presenter:

Ann Goldman spent the first 16 years of her nonprofit career in Chicago and then moved to the foothills in 2006 in pursuit of a little more skiing and freshair. She has worked as a senior development staff member at some large instituations. Ann has served as a board member at some small and mid-sized organizations. As a consultant she has worked across the spectrum. In every case, fundraising success has come down to a cultural commitment to the donor. More than twenty years in, Ann is delighted to be in fundraising. It's good, challenging work and she firmly believes we are changing the world - one gift at a time.

SVP Boulder County is invested in strengthening our shared community's social sector. We want to help make our nonprofits and the people who run them wildly successful, and, we believe strong leaders – both staff and board – help create capable organizations.

With that in mind, we've designed our BOARDS WITH BRAINS professional development series. We've got recurring sessions covering governance fundamentals (a nice refresher, or first-timer introduction), as well as sessions digging into leadership topics (deep-dives into specific areas of governance best practice).
