Event description

Description

Sally Gearhart was one of several characters in "A Great Ride," our 33-minute documentary about lesbians aging with humor and a zest for life that premiered at Frameline in 2018 and has now screened at over 40 film festivals worldwide. Since then, we have been working on a feature-length documentary about Sally. We would love your support! For this event we'll have:

* Screening of "A Great Ride"

* Previews of “Sally,” a film-in-progress about Sally Gearhart, who was:

- Harvey Milk’s “partner-in-crime” in the fight against the 1978 anti-gay Briggs Initiative

- The first out lesbian to be granted tenure (at San Francisco State University)

- Co-founder of one of the first ever Women Studies programs

- A brilliant feminist theorist and a fantasy novelist too

* Q & A

* Raffle for special prizes!!

Please come and bring your friends. Tickets to the event are FREE. Please register for tickets via eventbrite. We need at least 50 people to get the space for free.

We hope to raise $5000+ to help animate “The Wanderground,” Sally’s classic scifi novel, which includes flying psychic lesbians!

We welcome donations small or large. All donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made out to Center for Independent Documentary (add "Sally" to the memo line). If you prefer to contribute online, please do so at: https://www.documentaries.org/sally
